Plastic Free Tenterden

We’re part of a UK-wide community network tackling single-use plastic from green spaces, rivers and seas all the way back to the brands and businesses that create it.

The network is Plastic Free Communities, and it’s spearheaded by Surfers Against Sewage.

The plastic crisis is one of the greatest challenges we need to tackle in our lifetime. Globally, we produce more than 430 million tonnes of plastic annually, two-thirds of which are short-lived products that soon become waste, filling the oceans and, often, working their way into the human food chain.

The main solution is to reduce the amount of plastic produced at the source. That’s why we’re working with Surfers Against Sewage, the Council, local businesses, organisations, and residents to reduce the use of and demand for unnecessary single-use plastics and increase the uptake of more sustainable alternatives like reusables and paper-based packaging.
